It was in 2016 that I first met Megha – loved her energy and cheerfulness. She was born and brought up in Bangalore and presently resides in UK. She is one of the finest souls who always wishes good for other and very happy to help people in anyway she can. I found her journey very interesting and inspiring. When I asked her if she was willing to share her story for a blog she happily agreed. What follows next is her story in her own words.

About me
I am a very active individual. I am strong and I can cry and smile at the same time.
I am a very vocal woman and love communicating with my family. In my opinion it is very important for a woman to have an environment where she can communicate freely with family.
A day in my life
I am a morning person. The first thing I do as I start my day is to hit the gym. Fitness to me is very important. I do not like to spend lot of time sitting and working. I keep moving around even while working.
Food is another thing I am particular about. I love to eat healthy meals and goal is to make 3 fresh meals every day. I also take lot of pleasure in taking care of my home and my husband.
In the evenings after I am done with work, I usually spend some time reading. I read a lot about human psychology. I also love to watch documentaries about people in various fields.
My Childhood
I was a very talkative and bubbly girl. I could go and talk to literally anybody. I have made a lot of friends with whom I am still in touch. There used to be a music teacher who would teach Carnatic music to a bunch of kids at my house. So every time after the teacher left, we spent time playing games like hide and seek and having fun.
Another vivid memory of my childhood is the growth pains I used to get regularly. These pains, I was told by doctor that 1 out of 10 children get it. Its a non treatable condition. Every night I used to have severe pain in my legs and thighs.
Another very important part of my childhood is my Brother. Having a brother is more like a master and child relationship. Even when the whole world is looking at my achievements, he is the one who is points my flaws and encourages me to do much better. It is the only thing that has brought me this far. He is my shield. He cannot tolerate anyone speaking ill about me.
Married Life
Married life was a drastic change but I got settled in due to my friendly nature. My husband’s has been very supportive since the passing away of my dad.
One thing I got as an advice and which I would like to pass it on is that “Don’t Judge any anyone until you have crossed their situation. It takes 4-5 years to settle in a marriage. Until then do the watch game. Have patience and you will sail through.”
Life Challenges
I had health issues. I was obese. At one point I was 76kgs, I am 5ft 1inch tall. The doctor, I remember, told that stats was that of a 40+ year old woman and advised me to focus on health. I started of by walking everyday and ate salads for dinner. I walked about 10 kms. Initially I could not walk even 100 meters but with determination I managed to shed 22 kilos in about 8 months. The key is to maintain consistency.
Another challenge with I had to sail through was with passing away of my dad. I was married, On one afternoon we got a call from mother that my father had collapsed. We rushed him to hospital but by the time we reached hospital he was no more. It was quite painful for one and half years. Every place I used to visit where me and my dad had been before together, memories would flood back. It was very difficult but time will heal. When someone close passes away, its devastating, but with time, you will find courage and confidence to move on.
Work Life
I did my BCA and got placed in TCS through campus selections. Initially, I was not eligible to attend interviews because of a miscalculation on part of examiner. They had totalled it wrong and marked me failed in one subject. But with the assurance of my HOD and placement officers, one company (SAP) agreed to interview me, I cleared all rounds but the company was not willing to wait for re-evaluation results to be out and hence that was a closed door. Moving on, I cracked 3 more interviews and I choose to join TCS.
After a few years I moved to UK. Here I started to apply for jobs and cracked through interviews. I am currently on my 2nd job here. I am not very specific on roles neither am I money oriented. I love to learn new technologies and would like try improvising my work continually.
Message for women
Earn for yourself. Save at least 10% of your income for yourself. Spend time with yourself. Your health is most important, unless you are not doing well you cannot take care of others in family, so work to stay in good health.
